If You Don’t Take the Time to Learn, You Will Never Be Able to Grow

I attended my first REALTORS® Conference & Expo and despite the nonstop activity, I feel more energized than ever before. Maybe because I took a class on time blocking (something we all need to learn better) that helped me make my schedule more efficient and effective, or maybe because I have learned about five new ways to bring in leads through technology that I’m beyond excited to implement into my business. Or, possibly it’s from all the new friendships I made with other REALTORS® and seeing old friends that I wouldn’t have been able to see had a conference like this not existed. I can’t pinpoint exactly what my newfound energy is from, but I can say, it feels damn good.

I’m always a bit hesitant to head to conferences. First and foremost, like many REALTORS®, I’m busy — very busy. And now that South Florida is officially “in season”, the last thing I should be doing is driving three hours away from my clients and my business during one of the craziest times of the year. But I did… and I am nothing but thankful for that.

If you don’t take the time to learn, you will never be able to grow. And by learning, I mean listening. Hearing stories from REALTORS® on panels of what’s helped them grow their business, close more deals, and make more money. Listening to different technology companies pitch their concept and how it works to help make me more money. And engaging in conversations with other REALTORS®, bouncing ideas back and forth, and really creating long lasting relationships that will carry on both personally and professionally. You think you “know it all”, well I thought that too. Just because you’ve been in business for years and years doesn’t mean you’re an expert. There’s always something new to learn as real estate is constantly evolving and changing. Many times, just sitting in a room listening to the speakers’ stories sparked ideas and concepts that I never thought about before. If you can take away one useful tool, tip, or piece of advice from the conference, it’s well worth it– I came back with more than 20.
